Deni Porter

Email: srporters@gmail.com

With a motto like “you can’t have too much color”, you would think that watercolor would not be the media of choice for Deni Porter. However, with the use of a glazing process (thin layers of translucent color one upon the other), she is able to make her paintings “sing” with color. Her subject range is wide – including both human and animal portraits, cityscape and landscapes, and beauty of everyday objects. Use of dramatic light and intense color are the essence of Deni’s easily recognizable technique.

Deni received a Bachelor of Arts in art from the University of California back in the mid 1970’s, but upon graduation was faced with the prospect of having to earn a living. Since the art field didn’t appear to be a particularly high compensation area, Deni launched into a business career that culminated with the sale of her Portland based software company, Bennett/Porter & Associates in 2002. After retirement from her business career, she now enjoys painting subjects from both Sunriver, OR and Tucson, AZ where she divides her residence.
