My name is Stacey Colgan of Bohemian Woolworks from Bend Oregon. I am a self-taught fiber artist working in the technique of Nuno Felting which employs the use of wool fiber, fabrics and other lustrous fibers, soap and water along with copious amounts of agitation by hand, to create a unique fabric. Each piece is One-of-a-kind and difficult to repeat. Nature is my best inspiration but I can also be inspired by colors and textures in almost anything I see, I just have to look around. Upcycling is important to me so my favorite past-time is going to thrift stores to find unwanted fabrics which I will then cut up and incorporate into my pieces. One person’s junk becomes my canvas. I also source some of my silk straight from Uzbekistan.

I first started to dabble in felting in about 2019 where I played with needle felting. After going down the you tube rabbit hole I discovered wet felting and have never been able to climb out since. I also have been studying Nuno from many well known European artists with online courses that allow me to study at my own pace developing my own style which is quite diverse. I can create a variety of items from scarves, hats, bags and tapestries.

I created a website “Bohemian Woolworks” where one can see my works. I feel extremely fortunate to have been accepted to the Art Gallery SunRiver to show my pieces. One can really get a better sense of my items when you can see and feel the lustor and textures of my pieces.
