Artist Bio
My love affair with glass started in 1989 when I moved to Seattle. There I saw Dale Chihuly’s glass and was hooked by the intensity of color, movement, and design. While working in Information Technology, I pursued my glass passion at the Pilchuck School of Glass and at the Pratt Fine Arts Center where I learned from excellent teachers and glassblowers. From Greg Deitrich I learned glass engraving and coldwork, Nancy Callan for cane work, Cappy Thompson for Grisaille painting on glass and many others.
In 2018 I moved to Bend, Oregon and my focus changed from blown glass to fused. Starting with a small kiln that came to me through a friend, I embarked on learning all I could about fused glass, bringing to bear the experience accrued in hot shops in Seattle. I love and employ a variety of fused techniques. I enjoy clean lines and glass that incorporates patterns of the real world. I appreciate the micro patterns such as DNA or natural patterns found in rivers and rocks. As I continue on my journey, I hope you will enjoy my body of evolving work.
